ART METHODS FOR ADULTS

Take a moment for yourself Monday mornings and try out a new medium! Classes are typically 1-1.5 hours long and cover various art topics

ANIME DRAWING
Wednesdays at 6pm

A series of classes breaking down the art of anime by analyzing various elements from different shows, movies, and clips in order to apply them to the pieces we create. Each class will focus on different topics from character design to backgrounds featured in different anime. Through analyzing the anime we love, different drawing and art techniques and elements of design can be learned and further improved upon.

COOKIE DECORATING WORKSHOP
Monday, March 11th at 6pm

Join us for an evening of St. Patrick's Day cookie decorating! Each ticket includes 6 cookies to decorate and all decorating supplies. Learn basic flooding and decorating techniques to design one-of-a-kind cookies.

Cookies and icing made by That Much Sweeter, so you know they'll taste amazing! *Allergen Notice: cookies are made with almond flour.*

HENNA WORKSHOP FOR TEENS & ADULTS

INTRO TO FACEPAINTING
Thursday, March 21st at 6:30pm
 

Want to learn how to face paint? This class will be instructed by Ashley Pickin, who has been a professional face painter for over 18 years. She knows all the tips and tricks to creating fabulous designs.

Learn all the basics to get you started including the different types of face paint, one strokes/rainbow cakes, stencils, sponges, daubers and how to use all of these items. You will learn how to paint a cat, dog, butterfly, tiger, hearts and rainbows.

This class is for ages 13+

CREATIVE CANVAS - SPRING FLOWERS
Saturday, March 16th at 6pm

Creative Canvas provides a fun, friendly environment for you to flex your artistic muscles! We have classes for adults, children, families and couples.

Our instructor will guide you through the featured painting giving you time to enjoy your friends’ company, meet new people and have a good time. There is no right or wrong in this class – join us for an experience and amaze yourself with your creative abilities.

VDSA CREATIVE CANVAS FOR TEENS & ADULTS

Creative Canvas at the Art Factory exclusive adaptive painting class for individuals with disabilities and Virginia Down Syndrome Association. This class is opening to individuals with Down syndrome or other disabilities.

For homeschoolers ages 13 and all adults with Down syndrome or other disabilities welcome. Seasonal canvas painting for each class.

TEXTILE ARTS
5 weeks program, beginning March 15th at 10:30am

In this class series we will learn and apply textile art techniques, including batik, sun art, tie dye, gel plate transfer, and hand painted fabric.


PAINTING STYLES
5 weeks program, beginning May 3rd at 10:30am

Let's discover painting styles together! From impressionists to contemporary art what are some techniques used to create a certain "look" in art.

ADULT ART WORKSHOPS

These classes are part of an ongoing art program for adults. Classes are typically 1.5-2 hours long and cover various art mediums. Choose your favorite topics or join us for all of our upcoming classes! Students explore their creativity while forming meaningful connections within their community. Our classes aim to improve the health and well-being of students through art.

Choose a topic that interest you and sign up per class. Save 10% when you register online for 2 or more classes.


REFLECTIVE OBJECT STILL LIFE DRAWING
March 10th at 5pm

Let’s learn advanced drawing techniques that bring reflective objects to life on paper. Discover the intricacies of observing and reproducing the way light interacts with different surfaces, creating realistic and stunning depictions.


ABSTRACT GEOMETRIC IMPASTO
March 17th at 5pm

Dive into the world of geometric abstract impasto. This hands-on workshop invites participants to explore impasto techniques, bringing geometric abstraction to life on canvas.


BOTANICAL WATERCOLOR IMPRESSIONS
March 24th at 5pm

Explore the delicate world of botanical watercolor impressions on paper. In this class, you'll learn the art of watercolor while capturing the essence and beauty of botanical flowers.

Wooden Sign Design

 

Our instructor will guide you through the process of creating your own custom wooden sign in this 2 ½ hour class. From sanding and staining to stenciling and painting, you will learn to work with natural wood grains, knots and textures. You will leave with a piece of art that is one of a kind.

Even if you have never lifted a paintbrush, not to mention woodworking tools, this class is for beginners or expert artisans alike. Our designer will make stencils that allow you to customize your sign with your family name, children’s names, monogram, or special dates in your life. You will also have the opportunity to choose paint colors and wood stain that best coordinate with your style and taste.


WOODEN DOOR HANGERS
Thursday, March 14th at 6:30pm

 

Join us to paint decor for your front door! Choose the door hanger of your choice - We have round signs as well as cutouts in seasonal shapes, holiday themed, and greetings. We will have all the paint colors and supplies to create your perfect door hanger during this event.


Frequently Asked Questions:

What are the adult classes like? Come with friends, or meet the person next to you. Our instructor will guide you step by step through creating your own unique works of art. Classes are laid back, no pressure. Music playing, we want you to relax and have a great time!  

Are children allowed to attend an adult class? Due to the level of difficulty or type of event, we offer many different sessions- teens only, adults only, just for kids and fun for the whole family! Those specified for adults are for 18+. Please check our calendar for age appropriate classes.

Do I need to sign up in advance? Yes! We do ask that you register online in advance (if you need help registering please give us a call!) This allows us to prepare materials for those classes that require custom stencils, and ensure we have enough supplies as well as staff to work the event. Classes that do not meet enough sign ups will unfortunately be canceled. Help us keep our calendar full of fun events by registering online and invite your friends!

What do I wear? We provide aprons, but we recommend wearing something you wouldn’t mind getting paint on. Remember - we are using acrylic paints so you may want to leave your nice items, shoes or purses at home! The Art Factory and Party Place cannot be responsible for any paint damage.

If I come with a friend or a group, can we all sit together? We encourage you to arrive 10 minutes early to select a seat. If you are coming with a group of 5 or more, let us know in advance and we will try to make arrangements.

Can I bring in an adult beverage? You are welcome to bring in a non-alcoholic beverage with you.

Can I tip the Instructor? Tips are greatly appreciated.

Can we host a private event? Yes! Please give us a call with a date or two already in mind. There is an 8 person minimum for private events.

Can I schedule a party at my location? Absolutely! We’d be happy to bring the Art Factory to you! Please give us a call with a date or two already in mind. Please keep in mind these classes can be messy and each guest will need a considerable amount of work space. A travel fee may apply. There is a 8-person minimum for private events.

What is your cancellation policy? Our classes are non-refundable. Cancellations made 72 hours prior to the class will be given a credit to reschedule for a future event.

Changes: Classes with customized items may request personalization changes up until 5 days prior to the event. At this point stencils will be made and there will be a $10 recut production fee.

Please Note: The Art Factory and Party Place reserves the right to cancel a painting session at any time due to class size, weather, sickness, etc. If we feel we need to cancel a workshop or event, every attempt will be made to notify those that have signed up for the session. If you paid online, you will be given the option of rescheduling your session or a refund will be made.
